I have to admit, when I walked into the shop to get my upgrade I was not going to buy this phone. I knew it existed and it was on the radar but I was after an HTC desire as I have had the G1 almost since it was released. Android was a must in my mind.
My first impression on seeing the phone was that it looks really smart, but the build quality looks fairly poor. This is entirely down to the very thin plastic that makes up the case. As I work on the railway and building sites, this was a huge concern for me.

The next thing I noticed is the superb screen. The colour clarity and picture definition is absolutely superb – which you would expect from the super-amoled screen. (Exactly what this meant I wasn’t sure, but it seems that the benefits over first generation amoled can be stated as: 20% brighter screen; 80% less sunlight reflection; 20% reduced power consumption.) The multitouch screen is very responsive, and the pinch to zoom that seems to becoming a standard makes internet browsing a dream.
The great things about android phones (of which this is one) for me is the integration to google and social networking sites, and the android app store. Having a google account already meant that I could download all my contacts to my phone without having to worry about transferring them from my old phone. In addition you can link (amongst other profiles) facebook and twitter profiles to you contacts. As far as the app store is concerned, it is very similar to the apple store in terms of content. The main difference seems to be that more of the useful apps and games are free on the android store.

The phone (currently) ships with android version 2.1 but Samsung have confirmed that 2.2 will be available by the end of September. I was also told by a sales team that this phone is the only one on the market today that will definitely be getting android 3.0 in the future. This is one of the points that sold it to me to be honest, so I hope this turns out to be true.
The next clincher for me was that this phone has the ability to act as a wifi hotspot – allowing me to browse the internet from my non-3g ipad or a laptop.

There are a few annoyances however. If you have sorted you google contact list into groups, these are not synced with the phone. On top of that, all google contacts are lumped into one group and it would seem that all these google contacts can not then be added to other groups. But this is a minor gripe. Battery life can seem pretty poor too. If I use it as a phone only, with all extra services off I can easily get 2 days out of it – but then what is the point in having a fancy phone at all? With pretty heavy use of the internet, social networking services and the gps I can barely get 8 hours – but then what phone these days can?
Having owned the phone now for about 5/6 weeks I am really happy with it. The galaxy s offers much improvement over my original android phone and this impulse purchase has paid off. If you can put up with the flimsy plastic and the need to keep a charger close then I would higly recommend this phone. It looks great and I have yet to find anything that makes me regret buying it.

Aesthetically it is very nice as well as plastic and seems to feel SO much buono.Il owns Samsung probabilmete why is Windows Mobile, Android and Bada not support the management of the two SIM but I have to say that in my opinion, having owned a HTC, not just as good as SW (supports java applications). All of my photos have come out clearly. The only problem I would say is it does take a while to access the media, whether it be video, music or photos, on the file manager on the mobile – it can go very slowly at times, and a memory card is definitely needed due to the high memory capacity photos will take (because they are of a good quality).

However, memory cards can be put in the phone and aren’t expensive. Mostly a memory card will even come with this phone.
My phone is “red” however it does appear pink in the sunlight. It does however come in many other colours. I am happy with my phone, and as far a Samsung’s go, this is excellent.

I bought this product from one week and I can say I’m quite satisfied. With only 200 € I have a phone with almost everything you need: quadband, HSDPA / UMTS (I have not tested yet), Wi-Fi, GPS.
I managed to easily connect to wireless networks, including the office that has the LEAP protocol and access to google mail (easy) and other email accounts. The Market is provided and there are a lot of very useful free software applications. For web browsing I have installed Dolphin and usability and browsing experience is excellent: with the touch screen you can read pages in a very decent. Nokia 5230 Multimedia features: 9 / 10

Thanks to Symbian OS and stocked Ovi service applications you can integrate the functions of this cell with many other fun features. Unfortunately, the purchase does not include an auxiliary memory which you then purchase separately if you use other applications because the phone’s internal memory is only 70 MB. And ‘possible at a cost around 30 euros to buy a 16 GB micro SD on which you can then upload all the photos and applications that you want. Of course there are all the basic applications such as radio, mp3 players and mp4, a program for photo retouching, some games, a notepad and more. Important thing worth mentioning is the GPS and maps that can be downloaded via the Nokia website.

With Nokia I have rarely had problems and this 5230 is no exception. The battery usually lasts me about two days because I use it very long but in a couple of hours charging you reach up to 70% charge. The system will not jam and is almost never fast enough when you switch from one function to another. The touch screen is easy and intuitive. Lightly press with your finger and you can now also scroll through images. Unfortunately, no pen and some may regret this (the 5530 and 5800 there have in fact). So far, no scratch and I hope to keep at least a few more months immaculate. Even the reception is very good.

Honestly the best, but we must also spend more. The M5650 corby example might be a viable alternative because the price is around 160 but also has more Wi-Fi. Even the 5530 series has the same more or less the same price but in return has Wi-fi and is aesthetically better (although not, however, UMTS). Some LG models with the same functions could be his favorite but buying this 5230 you can rely on the quality of Nokia that is a factor to take into account no doubt.

In conclusion: it is a good phone with some flaws.
I suggest you purchase? Depends. If you can afford to spend a bit more I suggest you opt for the 5530 and aesthetically I prefer (also a stylus included) or any model Samsung Touch Screen series always Corby that are aesthetically in my opinion the best. But if you settle for a phone with good multimedia features unpretentious but then this phone is for you. The price now is around 120/130 euros but is now set to fall even more.

Nokia 5230 user review

The phone in my possession is white with blue back cover. Let now the 5230 is not really slim, however is not very heavy, the only flaw in my opinion is that without a protective case the phone is quite “slippery” in his hand. The Nokia 5230 has only three physical buttons: start and end call button and a middle button that invokes the menu (hold as long as there is access to multi-task so as to close open applications that we do not need and which employs only memory). Convenient side button to lock and unlock the phone!
The operating system we find is the Symbian 9.4 S60 v5.

The package (a little ‘poor) contains the charger, the headset (standard 3.5 mm jack), the user manual, a EUR 10 voucher to spend on nokia music store, and a strap with a plectrum (which serves as a pen because the touchscreen is resistive). Lacks a microSD to expand the phone’s internal memory and above all lacks the data cable to connect your phone to your computer.

If you already know the Symbian operating system, the menu is the usual … so no problem. If you do not know him but no problem because it is very intuitive and simple. How about we all Symbian spoiled for choice of programs to install … just look a bit ‘on the net!
Regarding the touch screen that really surprised me … responds quickly to commands without any slowdown, even to write posts is quite fast. Only the contacts bar (that you can ‘choose to put on the home) the touchscreen sometimes snug … mah.

The screen is bright and sharp looking and not as usual “patina fades colors” of some nokia (type N82 and N70). The Nokia 5230 also has a 2 megapixel camera without disgrace and without praise (in the light of day the photos are not bad).
